3D Research s.r.l. is a spin-off company of the University of Calabria, specialized in Computer Graphics, Industrial Design, Virtual Prototyping, and Virtual/Augmented Reality. The company has developed products and services for numerous public bodies and participated to the VENUS project funded by FP6. Within the project 3D Research coordinates the research activities and is in charge of the development of the VR system and the software for both the Virtual Dive Experience and the Augmented Exploration system.

AppliCon s.r.l. is an engineering company, spin-off of the University of Calabria, specialized in the design and development of microprocessor-based embedded systems for communication, localization, navigation and remote control of vehicles, sensors and divers in underwater environments. In the framework of the project, the company is in charge of the development of the communication and hybrid tracking system, and conducts the prototyping activities for the underwater tablet.

Enviroconsult s.r.l. is a service company that operates in the field of ecology and off-shore activities, with particular reference to environmental, geophysical and geochemical applications. In previous projects, the company has worked on the chemical, physical and biological characterization, protection and preservation of the submerged structures of the Baia archaeological park. Enviroconsult s.r.l. takes part in the project by conducting environmental studies of the underwater archaeological sites and the acquisition and analysis of the collected acoustic data.

The University of Calabria (UNICAL) participates to the project through the Department of Mechanical, Energetics and Management Engineering (DIMEG), the Department of Information, Electronic, Systems and Modelling Engineering (DIMES) and the Department of Biology, Ecology and Earth Sciences (DIBEST). In particular, the DIMEG is in charge of the development of optical techniques for 3D survey; the DIBEST conducts studies on the characterization of materials and forms of degradation present in the archaeologicalsites; the DIMES deals with the design and development of underwater navigation and localization methods based on data-fusion techniques. Finally, UNICAL uses for the interpretation of archaeological data the consultancy services of NIAS-ISCR (Nucleus for the Intervention in Underwater Archaeology of the Superior Institute for Conservation and Restoration).

The Institute for coastal marine environment of the Italian National Research Council is a public research center that conducts interdisciplinary research on coastal areas. In this project, the CNR-IAMC deals with the processing of collected acoustic data and the integration of optical and acoustic techniques for the generation of 3D models of underwater archaeological sites.

The Institute for Conservation and Restoration (ISCR) is the technical organism of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism (MIBACT) and it's specialized in the restoration and conservation of works of art and cultural heritage. For the VISAS project, the Nucleus for the underwater archeology Interventions (NIAS), co-ordinated by Dr. Barbara Davidde, co-operated in the definition of system specifications and planning of experimental activities.
